A new layout and colour palette have breathed life into artist Karen's Kent home

Artist Karen Birchwood wasn’t too impressed with the colour palette of her potential new home, a five-bedroom cottage, when she first viewed it in early 2004. But Karen put her creativity to work and gave the interiors new life with a coat of fresh white paint, interspersed with the occasional splash of colour, all furnished with a happy blend of modern, retro and family heirlooms.
