A London home has been turned into a cosy rural refuge by owners Maeve & Alex

Several years ago, best-selling novelist Maeve Haran and her husband Alex began to wonder whether it was time to turn their romantic notions of living in a rural idyll into reality, but were loath to abandon their suburban life in Highgate, London. The compromise: bringing the rural idyll to Highgate, in the form of a restored 1901 property furnished in the country style by architectural reclamation and design company Retrouvius.
